It allows a user with a single machine control licence to make small changes very simply, such as the number of decimal places, modifications to the start and end of tape output, for a similar control that requires minor variations of machine tape input.

It is not necessary to spend time writing all the information for a new control, DUCTpost uses stored information for fifty of the most common machine controls, and these may be modified by writing an option file
